CAROL’S CAFE´- PRATTVILLE… Comfort Food With A Twist
Carol’s Café Opened May 1, 2024 – By Eileen Majors
Will There Be Pie? – Of course there will! Pie is a tradition at Carol’s and has been for decades, and they are delicious! How about a scoop of vanilla ice cream with that fresh fruit pie? I still remember when Carol’s dad was there to make the pies, each from scratch, which is still being done today. Everything is homemade at Carol’s, from a full mountain-style breakfast with fresly baked muffins to the great assortment of lunch entrees you’ll love. This year, they will serve Biscuits and Gravy every day, by popular demand.
Carol’s scrumptious recipes have been enjoyed by thousands, with a new twist each year, as you would expect from this culinary artist. Locals and visitors to the area rush to Carol’s each year when it opens. It’s that fresh, homemade food that brings them in, and that beautiful deck. The property sits right on the lake’s edge in the little town of Prattville on Lake Almanor’s west shore. Again, eating at Carol’s Café has become tradition for many travelers and locals over the years. From fresh salads to burgers and fries, delicious sandwiches and more exciting menu options, you can always expect the best from Carol. Even the salad dressings are housemade, all five of them!
Some say Carol makes it look easy; and I would agree that she may, but she gives much credit to her assistant, Brittney. She is learning all sides of the business, which has proven to be a big help in this lakeside café. Carol’s also offers catering which she has been busy with over the winter; that and working the Almanor Basin Food Pantry’s Community Suppers.
Each summer there is something new at Carol’s. She designed a nostalgic ice cream parlor two years ago which offers a bit of extra fun to her menu. In February she conducted an online survey which asked what new entrees her customers would like to see on the menu. This year Sunday Night Fried Chicken Dinner is back. This popular meal is served family style with all the fixin’s including Carol’s homemade biscuits. The Sunday Supper is a tradition that has been carried on through generations for many families, so be sure to make reservatioSalads are offered with house-made dre. In a hurry? A Grab and Go menu will be featured in the soda fountain this year. Summer Hours: Wednesday – Sunday 7:30am – 2pm Sunday Fried Chicken Supper 4:30 – 7pm, Closed Monday & Tuesday.
