Courage Triathlon at Lake Almanor on August 26, 2017
They’re calling it a “mini sprint” triathlon consisting of three legs: a 2.8 mile run, a 7.1 mile bike ride and a 4.1 mile kayak ride. Participants can take it all on or participate as a three-person team. Either way is fine for organizers; they are here for the cause and want to include participants at all levels of ability. This family-friendly event also includes a 1/4 mile kids’ fun run.
The event takes place at 10:00am on Saturday, August 26, 2017 and will start and end at Plumas Pines Resort at Lake Almanor. From Chester, turn left on Highway 89, then left on Lake Almanor Drive West. Do not turn into the golf course community of Almanor West. It does not connect. Continue to Plumas Pines, your destination will be on the left. Plumas Pines offers a beautiful restaurant and lounge on the lake with a large deck and courtesy dock for boaters.
Pre-register for this event online. Packet pick-up will be held on Friday evening before the race from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Plumas Pines Resort and again Saturday on race morning from 7:00 until 9:30. Tank tops and finisher’s medals will be given to all participants who register by August 8th.
Post-race refreshments are also offered for all participants.
Even if you are unable to participate, you are invited to give to this great cause. Courage Worldwide actively pursues the rescue of victims of sex trafficking. Any contribution you can make is greatly appreciated and could really make a difference in the life of a victim.

Chances are most people you’ll talk to know about human sex trafficking but what might surprise them is the fact that this isn’t a crime that only happens “over there” in other countries. Sex trafficking is a very real, very big problem here in the United States but thanks to organizations like Courage World Wide there’s awareness being spread, money being raised, and help being brought to victims of human sex trafficking.
Jenny Williamson, the founder of Courage World Wide, has devoted the past decade to helping those rise from the ashes of trafficking and rebuild the life that was stolen from them. On top of that she’s brought attention to the issue- holding conferences, events, trainings, and building up a huge volunteer base.
With a crime like human sex trafficking, rescuing the victims is only the beginning- the healing process is a long and bumpy road with sometimes scarce resources but with organizations like Courage World Wide there’s a light in the darkness. And where there’s light, there’s hope.
