The Olsen Barn property’s 107 acres include meadow, creekside forest and wetland adjacent to Lake Almanor. Stunning views of Lassen Peak and the lake compliment this property and the 130 year old historic barn. After changing owners several times, it is now up for sale. To remove the threat that any future landowners might block access or diminish wildlife habitat, the Feather River Land Trust has secured an agreement with the owner to buy the property. The group is busy raising funds to make this happen.
The purchase prose is $750,000. The entire cost of $1.246 million includes purchase price, preacquisition costs and short term and long-term management of the property. Individual donations at the time of writing this article are $112,000. Additionally funding of $400,000 was received from Plumas County through Proposition 50 for Chester River Parkway.
