Coppervale Ski Area – The Official Home of Snow

Last year despite the gloomy clouds, the gloomiest part of winter was that we didn’t actually get one. Without snow Coppervale Ski Area was not able to open. This year things are turning around. The ski hill is increasing its amount of fresh powder daily and will hopefully be open before you are reading this very issue of Mountain Valley Living. It is expected to open in December or January for the season, pending the snow of course. This year aside from the already awesome hill offering eight trails including a bowl and a gentler forest run, they are welcoming a new Terrain Park to the hill which includes a 20 foot flat box, a 10 foot flat box, an eight foot flat box, a double barrel flat rail, a flat down flat, and more.

New riders can rejoice in the newest available rentals. Squaw Valley has donated snowboards, skis, boots, bindings, and much more premium rental equipment that’s now available to you. A lift ticket for the day is $25 or you can do a half day for just $20. (based on rate schedule 2014) A beginner’s class is available through Lassen Community College. Boarder/Ski Cross Races take place from time to time and Norm Wilson the manager of the hill and heart of Coppervale Ski Area is planning on many more fun activities for everyone! You can follow Coppervale Ski Area or Mountain Valley Living on Facebook for upcoming events.

For information and ski conditions, you can call the snow phone at (530) 257-9965. The hill is located between Susanville and Westwood, CA on Highway 36, and invites you, friends, and family to come play and enjoy the snow.
